The Manglish Post

Kali ni, (or maybe for the rest of the month) I am going to tulis in Melayu campur English sebab ada si pukimak lancau yang I tak kenal asyik baca my benda alah and then kaki menyibuk habis! Tak selesa SIAL! Ada dia cakap I ngan faez adik beradik? EEEEEHHH!! haha. tolong sikit. hehe. apaper hal mamat yang sibuk tu, SIBUK SIAL! haha.

Uish sekarang ni I tengah semangat gila layan keroncong and lagu-lagu hits melayu. Hehe. Stok layan lagu Bengawan Solo. Oh God lagu tu layan sial. Sumpah when I layan keroncong terus morph into rumah Tok Man and Tok Zain. And I can see them stok cam, duduk-duduk, minum teh or kopi melayu and humming softly "daaaaa diiii diii diiii". Hehe. Only me Raz and Di will understand. Oh, sungguh nostalgic.

Kalau you still tak tahu I ni memang kaki nostalgia. I still say I was born in the wrong era. I suka gila lepak kat this kafe cina kat belakang Petaling Street. It's so classic. But then again kan, I guess, kira I'm lucky sebab I get to appreciate a wider variety kan.

I really wished I boleh tulis in BM better. Seriously I kureng gila when it comes to my Bahasa. Macamana nak jadi ANAK WAWASAN 2020? hehe. Dulu I never gave a shit pasal my negara and then bila you go overseas, belajar pasal culture lain, you look back at your ibu pertiwi and you're like, how can i not love it? Everything. Segala-galanya baby! hehe.

You know what? lepas ni, I rasa I dah taknak kasi just ANYONE boleh tulis kat my comment tu. Tapi this makes me bengang gila. Ish. PUKIMAAAAKKK!!

Entah la.

Oh yeah! Hari ni kat SEA 201B my cikgu introduced to the class the influences of music dalam zaman nationalism kat indonesia and all over South East Asia or something like that. Lagu Bengawan Solo specifically, which was a famous keroncong song during the WW2, is actually popular all over south east asia. No joke. And lagu tu is in beraneka jenis language! cool kan?

So lagu ni jadi popular masa tu sebab :

a) Liriks dia

Bengawan solo, riwayatmu ini
sedari dulu jadi perhatian insani
musim kemarau, tak seberapa airmu
di musim hujan air meluap sampai jauh .
mata airmu dari solo
terkurung gunung seribu
air mengalir sampai jauh
akhirnya ke laut ......
itu perahu, riwayatmu dulu
kaum pedagang s'lalu naik itu perahu

As you can see, dia pasal this river kat Indo and how throughout all the historical shit that happened the river was there the whole time to witness it. And the river is significant sebab it was used a lot by the pedagangs. So its always been important. I think the lyrics actually is more significant than that. But I tengah malas nak type panjang so you go figure la. Hint : Nationalism, Colonialism perhaps?

b) Keroncong is so macam, haish, like when you dengar you rasa macam you pandang jauh kat tepi pantai thinking about the past. At least thats what I think. And by the way keroncong is actually Portugese influenced. I mean, the instruments la. Ukelele ke apa entah. Look up on it if you nak tahu sangat.

c) Because of the Japanese occupation. Everything was "Asia untuk Asia" (HISTORY CLASS BABY!) and because of this Keroncong was more played because they allowed it. Kan all the lagu Mat saleh was eliminated so it helped popularize this song even more. Dah la pretty much the entire South East Asia was taken over by them. And you know how it works, kalau dah been taken over by the same people the chances are you will be learning the same shit. Or perhaps, Same shit different style.

Contohnya, ada this mamat Indo who was on a flight in a Burmese plane and he heard a Burmese stewardess humming the tune. Lepas tu, he tanya la, mana you dengar lagu tu? And then she was like oh I think its a Burmese folk song. And then lagu ni, kalau you look up in Japan is called Bungawan Soro. The Japanese army who were stationed in Solo actually liked it and brought it back to Japan tu! And there is also an English version of it sang by a woman from Hong Kong too!

Padahal the real person who wrote the song was an Indonesian man. Nama dia Gesang Martohartono. Ingat tau! Hehe.

So lagu ni shows how because of the WW2 and Japanese occupation, the people of SEA will sentiasa share a commonality of which I think is fucking cool. I suka! hehe.

Although, nowadays, I rasa cam, the youth dah tak kisah pasal history. Or maybe I'm wrong. I hope they do. Sebab it helps you be more aware about why our negara is the way it is today. Duh! Itu kalau korang tak tahu fail! Haha.

Anyways, I dah tulis panjang gak ah. Hopefully you guys faham apa I cakap. Actually I tak kisah kalau you tak faham. If you're my real friend you will faham cause you've talked to me and know how i talk. hehe.

Selamat Malam!
