My Favourite Entrepreneur

You know, if it's any entrepreneur whom I truly admire in Malaysia it would definitely have to be, Tony Fernandes.

This came across my mind today when I had to book flights with AirAsia for my grandparents. There was a problem with the payment using my mum's Mastercard so I had to call their customer service.

It turns out that not all Mastercards can be used to pay for the tickets via the internet. This varies on the bank the card was issued from. Like apparently if your Mastercard was issued at Southern Bank or CIMB you might have a problem buying tickets from AirAsia. And I found out all this from their very friendly customer service people.

Anyways, I bought the tickets via telephone and the itinerary was emailed to me within a minute of me talking to the customer service people. I was like, wow. So fast, so efficient. And I didn't have to repeat myself a hundred times with spellings and stuff. So good!

I mean, THAT is how it should work TELEKOM.

So yeah, I totally think Tony deserves the Malaysian CEO of the year award more than the CEO of Telekom Malaysia. If I'm not mistaken he probably already got one and if he hasn't somebody shoot me.

I mean he totally turned nothing into something. He salvaged what used to be a government owned airline (which was dying by the way) with his own money (and borrowed some as well) and then managed to turn it over so well that he finished paying all his debts within a year of launching the airline which was, mind you, just after 9/11 when nobody wanted to fly which is totally ironic because AirAsia's tag line is: Now Everybody Can Fly.

Malaysia needs more people like Tony Fernandes.

Tony Fernandes is a forward-thinker. A risk taker. A leader. A smart man at that.

A true entrepreneur.

So I hope whatever your dream is, you ought to make it happen, even if it means taking a big giant leap because that's what Tony did and look where he is now!

So fucking awesome.
