Remp-it Review

So I was raving about this movie Remp-it for the past week because the trailer and making seemed convincing and finally got to watch it. I also watched Lady In The Water. Good movie too. But Remp-it deserves the review because it is no doubt the most INSANE Malaysian movie I've ever seen.

Let me just begin with : It was exactly what I expected it to be..and more...

1) The Mat Motors (Motorcycle boys who are specifically Malay) were so EW because:
i) They were assholes to their girlfriends (i.e cheating on them and slapping them)
ii) They're perverts (they peep on their friends while they have sex with their girlfriends)
iii) They're language is a whole different language (semantically)

2)They're culture consists of
i) Racing their bikes illegally whilst making LOTS of noise doing it
ii) Partying at dodgy looking clubs
iii) Smoking (weed and ciggarettes)
iv) Trying to get it on with the girls they go after

Don't get me wrong. Some of the activities done above are done by none Mat Motors. But if you do all of the above then you totally are fit to become one! HOWEVER, a Mat motor is (according to Nadzirah Hashim's observation):
i) Malay
ii) Male
iii) Own a motorcycle
iv) Does everything that is stated as above

What about a Minah Motor?

I don't know why but the Minah motors (the girlfriends of the Mat motors) seem to look like they don't know how to dress. One of the female characters was constantly wearing a pastel pink shade which did not compliment her skin color especially with her karat (rusty-looking) hair color. But hey, I guess they were trying to make it look as realistic as possible. Well done then.

Which is why I'd definitely say this movie served its purpose. It was definitely an interesting movie because they had good cinematography, good music (well, not GOOD music but music that suit the situation of each scene), a cast that seemed believable, and stunt scenes that showed this movie had quite a big budget.

Anyways it took me awhile to give it a rate because you know, its a freakin' malay mat rempit kampung ew yucky bleurgh movie BUT all in all I'd say (drum rolls please):

Acting: 7/10

Production Team (cameraman, lighting, sound): 8/10

Music Composition: 8/10

Script: 6.5/10 (because half the time I couldn't stand the way they spoke so I guess it was convincing so I should give them a 7 then..)

Storyline: 8/10 (has a moral however the moral shows that the government is CLEARLY yet subtly behind all this)

OVERALL: 7.6/10

Hmmm. I think that its fair. I don't know. Any of you seen it yet? I doubt it. What I did that night was almost social suicide. I chose to watch it at a cinema where I knew I'd see no one I knew. Woohoo. I was safe. And I was surrounded with Mat and Minah Motor. It was insanely surreal. I was watching the audience reaction whilst watching the movie and comparing and contrasting my reactions to theirs. One would see there are distinct differences. Haha. I sound so arrogant and snobbish. Its not that. Its just that me and the audience are on different wavelenghts. THAT is an acceptable arguement isn't it? Teehee.

Anyways. enough on Remp-it.

I just felt like writing. It HAS been awhile.

Okay. Going to watch Harry Potter now.

Ciao!
